This season on Guntersville has been a like a game of horse shoes for me while in the hunt and close no ringers yet. Saturday was another rung in the ladder close but no golden ring. Decisions are always key in success on the water so two decisions cost me staying too long on the morning spot and letting boat traffic affect me on the last stop of the day. When I arrived there was zero boats, but after bending the rod a few times soon there was nine boats close enough to pitch a jig on the decks. Still no regrets just have to keep grinding and hit those good decision making days!
BassTalkPro (David W. Turner Sr.) teams up the Blackwater International the importer of Toray fishing lines from Japan. "Blackwater is a name you're going to hear a lot of in the bass fishing future. I believe it will give me the competitive edge on high pressured on lakes- you need that edge. Blackwater Fluorocarbon gives you this edge. It's the clearest fluorocarbon I've ever fished with. The knot strength is great, it has very good abrasion resistance and easy to handle." I depend on a super strong line with my short line flip/pitch fishing, as well as on my spinning gear, and long line Frog techniques I depend on braided lines. The 8 strand circular "Bawo Super Finesse Braid" is unparalleled in its line class from 10-66 lb strengths - not only the strength but the long lasting charicteristics just make sense for me!

This years BFL season has ended for me with a 59th place in the overall standings. Short story I didn't make the top 40 cut at the last tournament. As I look back on the year I quickly think about miss opportunites; the missed tournamen which resulted in zero points after selling one boat and getting into the Triton, but most of all those chances during the tournaments. I think about the two big fish that followed the A-rig back to boat in first tournament only to flash away at the last moment; several other "get off's" haunt me also, not that every angler doesn't loose a fish, but I think about how that lost fish changes the way you fish out the rest of the day- it is also a mental loss. Next year goal is to get back into the ten finish zone and make the top 40 cut.
Good fishing-tight lines!
This week was the last event for this years Southeastern EverStart Series which took place on Lake Guntersville. Another full field of accomplished professionals took to the water in this last event. The big fish bite moved to deeper for most of the field fishing in 12' to 30' depths. Although plenty of fish were hitting the key was to get the bigger fish to bite. For most the day was a grind tossing the either the A-rig or working plastic swimbaits or even spoons. I had been on a big fish bite in practice boating several fish over 5lbs with Mike Bucca's famous Bullshad swim bait. I stuck to my guns on day two boating only one nice keeper of 3.5lbs early in the day. With a late boat number of 123 most of the prime spots had other anglers taking the best spots and camping out on them. It all comes down to knowing when to fold up tent and move to the next spot to find the active fish a task when no water is being drawn for sure. I am looking forward to the
